I've just dropped in on a BBT2 rehearsal in the main hall at WCC. They're working on a comedy version of Camelot. This is the piece they'll be performing this summer. I filmed some of their work and had a chance to chat with some of the actors. If you want to see this it'll be on our YOUTUBE page which will be up and running within the next few days. More info... watch this space.

Great news, John Landis (director: Blues Brothers; Beverly Hills Cop, etc.) liked our guys so much he's asked for more of our Baked Bean Magic. In less than an hour 10 more of our actors will be winging their way across town to Ealing Studios for costume fittings where we'll be transformed into characters from the 19th century. We're so excited we might actually pop! I'll fill you in on the details in my next entry. Until then Love N.

The lady in the glasses was very helpful with my costume. It was lovely - cooked breakfast & I liked the man in the coach, the driver. I got up early on sunday morning cause the big James (Act Too project manager) picked me up from my house in his car. I really Liked Ronnie Corbett, I met him on Sunday. He was a nice man. I'd like to do it again. That's it, K.

I'd like to say thanks to all the people that helped us wear the costumes & the filming we did. I found it very interesting, seeing an old fashioned market with all the sheep, meat & things. & I really enjoyed the breakfast & the people that looked after us in the tent. I'd like to do it again.

So much rain!
We've got loads of yout's from the Princes Trust in the building. They've been painting, scrubbing and generally making the WCA building sparkly and shiny. They do this as volunteers - and they rock! Thanks very much guys, you're making a difference and that matters.

Wow, what a week we've just had. 20 of our actors were asked to be supporting artists in the latest John Landis movie. The film will be out later in the year and will be called "Burke & Hare". It's about two famous grave robbers from the early 18 hundreds. Believe it or not it'll be a comedy! On set were Simon Pegg, Ronnie Corbett, Bill Bailey (one of my all time favorite comediens) and John Cleese. The beanies involved well and truly mobbed Mr.Corbett who took the onslaught in good stead and happily chatted with the guys for about 20 minutes until we were called back onto set.
Integration is a big drive for us, and to see our actors in the canteen with all the other jobbing actors, talking about their work and swapping tips (mostly about how to keep warm), then seeing us all getting the same treatment from the director (think Gordon Ramsay with a beard and you'll get the idea), and hey presto, you can't get more integrated than that.

Dearest BBTC,
There are times when words cannot say, what words cannot say, and 'fantastic' is the closest that I can find to describe how I found The Eclipse at the BAC last week.
I had the most profound experience when I came to see your show and I would be grateful if you could pass on to the actors that I have never enjoyed a trip to the theatre more.
Best wishes and good luck for future productions!
Rebecca

Hi cyber folk,
For those of you that don't know me, I'm Nikko and I am one of the directors at Act Too.
This is the beginning of a new adventure for me as I write my first ever blog.
Last year was very exciting for us as we developed new services to meet the changing needs of our clients who have learning disabilities.
Traditionally we have provided drama coaching and management in a package that included care and support as needed.
However, over the last year we've started providing housing, independent living support, DJ training and management and we've promoted our first club night, 'Rise-Up', a quality club night for everyone especially those with learning disabilities.
We also recorded our first single 'Rising Up' which will be released later this year under the name of 'Baked Beatz'.
We put on a number of shows including BBTC's 'The Retreat', BBT2's 'Space Up Your Life', Chilli Beans 'The Runaway' and a host of information or awareness productions.
This year we will carry on growing and developing our services, including our web presence and it's friendliness to people with learning disabilities.
This will include increased client contribution, blogs by actors in our theatre groups and group myspace pages and/or youtube pages. The first one of these has been up and running for a few months now and is for the Rewired DJ project. Check it out now by following this link myspace.com/rewireddjs
There's so much more I'd like to write about, but I'll save that for another time. Please come back and check this blog soon.
Peace out. N.
