BEANIES PLAY SUPPORTING ROLE IN MAJOR MOVIE
In the very early hours of a cold & wet Sunday morning 20 actors with learning disabilities, members of the Baked Bean Theatre Company, left the comfort of their warm beds and braved the cruel winter weather to catch an executive coach at Wimbledon. At six in the morning the coach left for Sevenoaks in Kent to the outdoor filming location of the latest John Landis movie "Burke & Hare".
Emotional
John Landis (director Blues Brothers, Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places) was looking for a particular look for scenes set in scotland nearly 200 years ago, he called on the Baked Bean Theatre Company to provide crowd scenes & emotional reactions to an execution.
Stars
Beanies were thrilled to be involved and enjoyed meeting some of the stars, who included Simon Pegg, Bill Bailey, Ronnie Corbett and romcom super diva Isla Fisher.
Beanie actress Katie Powell was heard to say "This is the day my life has been leading up to," during a costume fitting.
Hard Work
In total the beanies were on site for three long days, although it was hard work most had great fun and eager for their next roles in the movies.
John Banham, Marion McFarlane & Rebecca Blackwell waiting for "Action"
Baked Bean Actress Marion McFarlane was on the shoot and has written the following:
James from Act Too asked my sister if I would like to be in a Hollwood film. I said yes with lots of [other] people.
There were lots and lots of people in the film with different dresses, suits and top hats.
And lots of tea and coffee, that was nice beacause it was cold and wet.
I hope it's soon for the film to come out.
In the film it was raining, but that didn't matter because there was 20 of us.
We got up at 5AM in the morning for 6AM.
We'd been for our [costume] fitting at Ealing Studios the Sunday before.
Then Sevenoaks by coach to do the shoot.
The weather wasn't nice but we put a brave face on.
The dates we done it was the 14th, 15th & 16th of February, the people who were there were Simon Pegg etc.
When we finished on the Tuesday they moved to somewhere else so we don't know when it'll come out. [John Landis] got us to do all different shots & we got on and done it - & they gave us lovely food all day.

The Beanies tend to make friends wherever they go. One such friend was fellow supporting artist Major Declan Patch who we'd like to thank for taking these lovely photos.
